No one likes buying a product that falls apart within the first few months! Buying a junky Walmart bike is a lot like buying a Chinese pair of AirPods. It does not last. Now I'm not saying that Walmart bikes are bad. They are essential to getting people into the sport. But I want to list some good BMX bikes that don't suck!
These bikes have been tested and reviewed based on Value. How good is the bike based on the price you are paying? I hate to see people get ripped off, and starting off at #5 is the WTP Crysis, and expensive dirt-specific bike. Let's see why it's on the list.
(updated 1/28/21 to reflect new price changes)
✅ Full Chromoly
✅ After Market Parts
✅ 26.6 lbs
The Crysis is a sleek and stealthy bike designed to rip it on all terrains, with a spec that could easily be found on the same bikes the pro teams are riding on this year. You’ll find a generous helping of Wethepeople aftermarket parts including the all-terrain 2.35” overbite tyres, Logic sprocket and now the Logic stem. If that wasn’t enough, the Crysis is available in two frame sizes (20.5” or 21”), both of which use WTP’s new invest cast wishbone and taller 127mm head tube for a super clean and refined look.
This We The People Crysis is a strong mid-level bike. With full Chromoly bars, forks, and frame, you will love riding this durable bike. A lot of work went into designing the Crysis so that it will serve riders. I love the aftermarket parts because that really makes the quality stand out.

The Proton now features full 4130 Chromoly 4-piece bars along with full 4130 Chromoly 27mm offset forks and a taller 9.25” standover height frame, giving the bike a better overall look and feel. On top of that, the 2020 Proton comes equipped with a cassette hub, four pegs and a short and responsive 13” rear end perfect for all of the street riders out there.
All of Fly's 2020 bikes are of superior quality. Anything with this level of quality will last a new rider a long time. I love seeing bikes have double-wall rims and a full Chromoly frame. They even included strong gussets on the frame to prevent snapping.
✅ – 25.7 lbs
✅ – Lots of colors options
✅ – Only $369
The Primer is a serious starter bike at a seriously great price. Built around a pro-level geometry in a range of top tube sizes, the Primer is spec’d with quality parts like Odyssey Springfield brakes and Path Pro tires. The 2020 Primer also includes a fully sealed rear cassette hub and proven parts like the Sunday Freeze Stem and an FSA Headset.
This bike doesn't suck due to the fact that it is a Sunday. Sunday as a brand has amazing customer service and will make sure that you love your purchase. While it may be an inexpensive bike, the quality is still pretty decent. It's a great inexpensive beginner bike.
✅ – Chromoly TT, DT, and HT
✅ – Aftermarket Kink Parts
✅ – 26.13 lbs
The Gap is a versatile machine ready to handle anything you throw at it. Featuring modern geometry, the frame, fork, and bars add 4130 Chromoly into the mix and is available in both Gloss Lavender Splatter or Gloss Rootbeer Fade colorways. Components found on the Gap take things up a notch and are not to be missed.
In comparison to other BMX bikes at this price level, the Kink Gap really wins. For only $379, you can get a Trimoly frame and aftermarket kink parts. Buying aftermarket Kink parts on their own would cost a lot of money.

One of Cult's top-selling BMX bikes for a good reason. The Control bike offers riders a lot of strength for a low price. I have heard nothing but good things on this bike. Any bike with Chromoly for $500 is a really good deal!
